Huangshan emerges from the encounter between the ceramic tradition of Albissola and a worldview rooted in Chinese landscape painting. The mountains depicted are those of Huangshan, represented through multiple points of view rather than as a fixed image.
In the Eastern tradition, landscape is not observed from a single perspective, but reconstructed through memory, traversing different times, distances, and positions. As written by Guo Xi, a mountain changes with every step and every angle, containing within itself a multiplicity of forms. Painting does not reproduce what is seen, but what has been lived.
The inscription on the vessel, Unum ex multis, multiplicitas ex uno, expresses the idea that unity emerges from multiplicity, and multiplicity from unity. This resonates with the thought of Carlo Rovelli, according to whom reality is not made of isolated objects, but of relations. Huangshan does not propose a single vision, but a form that continues to emerge through the coexistence of multiple perspectives.
