Before 0

Before 1 is a neon installation displaying the age of the universe as a sequence of illuminated numbers that slowly drift apart, simulating the continuous expansion of space. The title poses a question: what exists before “one”? Before the first unit, before the singularity, before the Big Bang itself. The work does not attempt to answer, but to hold open the possibility that what we call an origin may itself emerge from something prior, still inaccessible or undefined. As the numbers move further from one another, time becomes visible as distance, expansion, and separation — transforming a scientific measurement into a meditation on beginnings, infinity, and the limits of human understanding.
